About > Ethos

For nearly 50 years we have been able to welcome a huge variety of school groups, adult groups, youth projects and special needs groups of all ages, backgrounds and cultures. Each group enjoys sole residential use of the Priory during their visit. This means they can make the Priory their home for the duration of their stay and can develop their programme to meet their own aims and objectives. We simply ask that all groups respect the Christian faith and traditions that lie at the heart of the Priory and its 850 year old history.

We believe that each guest is an individual with their own unique gifts and abilities. We seek to encourage and develop self-respect, respect for others and for the natural environment we all share. This is achieved through a range of activities that promote participation, teamwork, personal challenge, independence, friendship and personal responsibility.

Adventurous activity has been an important part of the Priory’s work over the last 40 years.  We have sought to enable our visitors both young and old to discover their gifts and unlock their potential.   Undertaking adventurous activities together has an uncanny way of teaching us more about ourselves, each other and provides us with opportunities to consider the bigger questions in life.

In conclusion whether groups follow an active or reflective programme then we aim to provide a positive and enriching experience of heritage, countryside and community life in a Christian environment that will be remembered for a life time.
