Soup and Dessert Events
December 2018
During the weeks of December, when not many children visited us, we were able to invite many other guests to our special Soups and Desserts events. These are hugely popular in both Swaledale and Wensleydale, many of the visitors walking to join us, rather than use cars. As ever the housekeeping staff did a fantastic job in providing delicious soups, but the desserts……they had to be tasted to be believed. There will be similar lunches in the Spring when it will be salads and desserts. Do join us if you can.
Christmas at Marrick – Marske Choir
Sunday 2nd December 2018
The Friends of Marrick Priory were supporting our Bursary Fund again. We had carols, a tasty buffet supper and most of all fabulous singing from the Marske Choir who entertained us. They sing all year but we’re told not many of them attend rehearsals in the Spring, they are too busy looking after the sheep during lambing! Barclays Bank joint funded our proceeds, for which we were most grateful. We felt very lucky. We shall be able to continue supporting our Bursary Fund and buy those new waterproofs which are needed for our visitors.

Dinner with Baroness Brenda Hale DBE, QC, PC, FBA
Friday 30th November 2018
We had our very first fundraising dinner at Marrick Priory. Our guest speaker was Baroness Hale of Richmond, DBE, QC, PC, FBA, Chairman of the Supreme Court who found time in her busy schedule to come to speak to us. Our speaker was brilliant in telling us about her life and childhood in Richmond; dinner, including game casserole, was delicious. Funds raised and a fascinating evening.
