For nearly 50 years we have welcomed guests of all ages, backgrounds and cultures. We simply ask that all groups respect the Christian faith and traditions that lie at the heart of the Priory and its 850 year old history.
We seek to encourage and develop self-respect, respect for others and for the natural environment we all share. This is achieved through a range of activities that promote participation, teamwork, personal challenge, independence, friendship and personal responsibility.
Whether groups follow an active or reflective programme we aim to provide a positive and enriching experience of heritage, countryside and community life in a Christian environment that will be remembered for a lifetime.
I have been working at Marrick Priory since 2001. I was fortunate to have some great role models as a youngster through school, church and voluntary organisations and I got involved with Outdoor Education from a young age. I am always inspired when I see people achieve things they never thought they could do!
I’ve been a Deputy Head at Marrick Priory since 2011. There are so many reasons I love what I do, but I particularly enjoy introducing people to new experiences and challenging them to realise their full potential. When not working I spend my free time around the Yorkshire Dales sharing my love of the outdoors with my husband and young family.
I have been involved with coaching, in some form, for around 30 years. I love seeing people achieve that 'magic moment' - when they accomplish something they never knew they were capable of. In my spare time, I enjoy sharing it with my family; telemark skiing, sea kayaking, climbing, and walking our wonderful hills.
Marrick Priory has been inspected by and is licenced by the Adventure Activities Licensing Service on behalf of the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority. Particular attention is paid to safety management systems with young people, and the ability to demonstrate compliance with nationally accepted standards of good practice in the delivery of adventure activities to young people, with due regard to the benefits and risks of the activity.

Marrick Priory is run by the Head of Centre and a board of dedicated trustees. There is a close affiliation with the Church of England through the Diocese of Leeds, who have been instrumental in supporting and developing the centre since the 1960.
Marrick Priory is a licensed centre by the Adventurous Activity Licensing Authority. This includes an extensive approval procedure which means that Risk Assessments and Instructor Qualifications are checked out by experts in the field of Outdoor Education. However, we recognise that some of our visiting groups are obliged - by their own superiors - to obtain copies of risk assessments prior to their visit. Click the helmet icon above to download.
